It is the responsibility of all COACHES, PLAYERS, CHEERLEADERS and FANS to act as representatives of Valley Youth Pop Warner. Any improper actions will not be tolerated.
ALL COACHES WILL HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO COMPLY TO THE FOLLOWING:
SHALL Read the RULE BOOK and BY LAWS of Pop Warner Football.
SHALL NOT permit or encourage "SWEATING DOWN" tactics in order for a player to make the team weight. After 3 weeks of pre-season practice any child that is still 5 lbs or over in weight will result in a conference with the parent and coach. At that time a decision will be made on the placement of the child.
SHALL NOT permit an ineligible participant to participate in a game.
SHALL NOT deliberately incite unsportsmanlike conduct.
SHALL NOT "RUN IT UP" or "PILE IT ON". Coaches shall not encourage their team to extend the lead in any game where they are leading by 18 points or more. In these cases, the coach shall make every effort to get all players into the game.
SHALL NOT receive any payment, in cash or kind, for services as a coach in Pop Warner. This includes any coach, expert, consultant or choreographer, regardless of roster status.
SHALL NOT recommend or distribute any medication, controlled or over the counter, except as specifically prescribed by participant's physician.
SHALL Abstain from the possession and drinking of ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES or the possession or use of any ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE on or near any field or Pop Warner function.
SHALL NOT SMOKE and / or use SMOKELESS TOBACCO on the field.
SHALL Abstain from the use of PROFANITY
SHALL NOT criticize players/cheerleaders in front of spectators, but reserve constructive criticism for later, in private, or in the presence of team if others might benefit.
SHALL Remove from a game or practice any player when even slightly in doubt about his/her health, whether or not as a result of injury, until competent medical advice is available.
SHALL CONTROL YOUR FANS - Remember, as Coach, you're responsible for your team and fans.
SHALL ACCEPT DECISIONS of the game officials and judges on the field and in competitions as being fair and called to the best ability of said officials.
SHALL NOT criticize an opposing team, its players, coaches, cheerleaders or fans by word of mouth or gesture.
SHALL strive to make every participant activity serve as a TRAINING GROUND for life and a basis for good mental and physical health.
SHALL Emphasize that winning is the result of good "TEAM WORK"
SHALL NOT engage in excessive SIDELINE COACHING and shall not leave the bench area to shout instructions from the sidelines.
SHALL TAKE PART IN ALL FUND RAISERS during the year.
SHALL Serve as a ROLE MODEL at all times.
SHALL Have all CERTIFICATION CARDS, PHYSICALS and REPORT CARDS filled out before the player can take part in practice.
Head Coach must have COMPLETED PARTICIPANT BOOK in your possession at all times.
SHALL Have a COMPLETE FIRST AID KIT immediately available at all practices and games.
SHALL Attend or have a team representative at ALL LEAGUE MEETINGS and COACHES CLINICS.
SHALL be responsible for handing out and collecting SCHOLASTIC FORMS.
SHALL follow all rules as stipulated by Pop Warner in regard to mandatory practice hours and team instruction.
SHALL be at practice 15 minutes ahead of time.
IT IS MANDATORY that you stay after practice until all your players or cheerleaders have been picked up by parents, or SUSPENSION will occur. In the event a coach leaves a child unattended the course of action is as follows:
ALL COACHES must submit a copy of DRIVERS LICENSE and INSURANCE.
NOTIFY ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF ANY LOST, STOLEN, DAMAGED OR FOUND EQUIPMENT.
NOTIFY CONFERENCE OF ALL DROPS.
Uphold all rules and regulations. National and Local, regarding Pop Warner. This includes any disciplinary action handed out by the board of directors.
ANY COACH found guilty of fighting during any conference function shall be suspended for the remainder of season.
NEVER PUT YOUR HANDS ON A PARTICIPANT IN A SEXUALLY SUGGESTIVE MANNER AND/OR WITH INTENT TO HARM.
