On January 2nd a former Pop Warner player Jerry MacCallister, son of former coach Dennis and former president Katie MacCallister, was involved in a life-altering dirtbike accident.
While riding at Hollister Hills he crashed. He sustained a broken neck with a complete spinal injury and is now paralyzed from the shoulders down.
This has been devastating to his family and friends. Dennis and Katie have remained by his side at Santa Clara Valley Trauma Hospital. Once he gets past the first several weeks in ICU, he will have many more months of hospital stay as he recovers. Dennis and Katie have been staying in a hotel close to their boy. There are fuel, hotel and meal costs. Their other 3 children are being cared for by neighbors and family friends. They are commuting daily to Santa Clara to see their brother. This has been Jerry's inspiration and he looks forward to their visits.
