Dear Parents and Guardians:

Pop Warner is the only national youth athletic program in America that requires children prove average or higher grades before participation. The Valley Pop Warner Board of Directors also feels that it is a crucial part of our program. We expect the children to understand the importance of academics in conjunction with athletics.

Along with the registration form, birth certificate, medical release, and payment, it is necessary to submit your child(ren)'s final report card from the previous school year. It must include grades for all quarters or trimesters. If your child does not have the 2.0 or 70% minimum, or a full year's report card, an Alternative Scholastic Certification Form must be completed before the season begins. The form includes four progress reports that need to be filled out by the teachers during September and October. Adequate progress in school is required to participate in certain games and the balance of the season.

You will also fill out an All-American Application with an Addendum for all your child's non-sports extra-curricular activities and academic achievements/awards from the previous year. This goes to the Regional office for evaluation. The final score combining the GPA with the extra-curricular activities will be used to qualify the children for three different levels of recognition. First team All-Americans score above 98.5%, second team above 96%, and honorable mentions score above 90%. Then, National Pop Warner reviews the top candidates for National recognition.

At the end of the season, the Valley Pop Warner top scholars are recognized at an award ceremony. The Regional top scholars are honored at a banquet dinner held in Santa Clara. It is an honor for the children to have not only their athletic achievements appreciated but also their hard work in school and in the community.
