HOW YOU CAN HELP

This program is run 100% by volunteers. Without volunteers we wouldn't exist, so it's vital to have parent participation. Parents are required to volunteer a minimum of three times per family during game days. If you are on a scholarship you are required to volunteer a little more.

A schedule is made and distributed before the games begin. Much thought and planning goes into the making of this schedule. Every effort is made to ensure that the schedule is fair to everyone. On your child’s registration form, in the bottom section you were asked to indicate where you would like to volunteer your time. If you made a selection, that's where you'll be placed unless that job is full, then you'll be placed where needed.

If you did not indicate where you would like to volunteer your time, again you'll be placed where needed. All positions are scheduled to work during your child’s game.

Below is a list of positions that need to be filled for each of the four games on game day.

Announcing
One (1) person – Needs to be comfortable speaking to the crowd with a microphone. Needs to have strong football knowledge and the ability to read referee signals. Must remain unbiased and announce both teams equally. Needs to arrive fifteen minutes prior to game.

Chain Gang
Three (3) people – Hold chain or field marker on the opposing sideline, move chains when instructed by the referee. Must remain unbiased and cannot cheer or advise from the sideline. Needs to arrive ten minutes prior to game

MPR (Mandatory Play Rule)
Two (2) people – Each football participant must play a minimum amount of plays. The number depends on the size of the team.
MPR monitor #1 - Stands on the opposing sideline with an MPR sheet that is provided by the opposing coach. As players go in for plays or come out of the game the monitor records the activity on the MPR sheet.
MPR monitor #2 - Stands on the home sideline and spots for the opposing team's MPR monitor who is monitoring our team. Watch for players going in and coming out and report it to the monitor.
Both MPR monitors need to arrive fifteen minutes prior to game. Your duty is complete when all players have met the MPR requirements.

Snack Bar
Four (4) people – There are many duties in the snack bar. They include:

  • barbecuing
  • handling money
  • washing dishes
  • food preparation
  • contact with the public

It is very important that you are on time and courteous to the public. You may not be getting paid for your work, but you are making money for your child's program. Please report for your shift with about five minutes left in the game prior to your child's game. This allows the outgoing parent to leave in a timely fashion and meet up with their child. If you were on the first snack bar shift of the day you would report one hour before your child's game time. The last shift of the day would stay until all clean up is done.

Score Board
One (1) person – Run the scoreboard and time clock. Must have football knowledge and the ability to read signals from the referee. Need to report fifteen minutes prior to game time.

EMT
One (1) person – Must be doctor, nurse, trained EMT or fire personnel with first-aid / CPR certification. Duty consists of standing on home sideline during home games and assessing any injury that may occur to players on either team.

There are twelve positions to fill per game, four games per day and four home games in a season. There are also four away games where we provide two MPR workers. Doing the math you find there are two hundred positions to fill throughout the season. As you can see the need is great in order to have a successful season. By working together, we all participate in the success of this program.

Coaches and board members are exempt from participating in the above duties.
